Prophets were national, regional, municipal, local, and communal. Before there was a church, prophets were secularly assigned to take care of their nations and their institutions. As a professional organization, prophets developed prophetic schools, communities, and guilds that made them standard fixtures of society. Whenever a project was pending and when consideration moved from vision to venture, prophets were sought. Sometimes they were sought first or included in the final planning and implementation stages of a prospective campaign. Christian prophets did not begin in the church, but as Hebraic prophets of God’s nation. They served as professional consultants and advisors, advocates and intercessors.
